Salt Fish Fritters the easy way
I came across this product whiles I was walking through the International isle in my local grocery store.I usually make this recipe from scratch at home. I decided to purchase it to compare it with my homemade recipe. So let us see how it turns out.
All you need is 3 ingredients:
1 pack of salt fish fritters mix
Vegetable oil
Water
Follow the directions on the package.
I wanted my batter a little thicker so I used 1 1/2 cup of water rather than 2 cup.
The flavor is pretty close to my homemade recipe. I can taste the salt fish and spices in each bite.
Overall I still favor my homemade recipe. I would use this product but I would add a twist to it with more shredded salt fish and a touch of my green seasoning and maybe 1 egg. This product is good for someone on the go, a bachelor ,a student or even a new cook. There is a similar recipe on the back of the package. The homemade recipe I got it from my childhood. Salt fish fritters were called and are still called fish cakes. My mom use to prepare those for Sunday brunch after church. It's an old Caribbean recipe for us. I was pretty fascinated for me to find the batter in a pouch.
